Paquette Art Studio
In collaboration with artist Thomas Paquette, Inscale Architects designed an energy-efficient studio that harmonizes with its natural surroundings. Thoughtfully oriented to capture soft, indirect daylight, the space provides an ideal environment for Paquette’s creative work while minimizing energy use.
Nestled within a wooded hillside, the design embraces the site’s natural slope—berming a portion of the structure into the landscape to enhance insulation and connection to the terrain. The studio incorporates insulated concrete form (ICF) low walls, high R-value insulation, a heat recovery ventilation (HRV) system for continuous fresh air, and high-efficiency heating equipment, achieving both comfort and sustainability in equal measure.
