Northwest Bank – Oil City Branch

Inscale Architects designed a new 3,300-square-foot branch for Northwest Bank that blends contemporary function with architectural sensitivity to its historic surroundings. The design features a spacious entry and a high-ceilinged lobby, creating a sense of openness and comfort for both customers and staff.

Drawing from the vernacular architecture of Oil City, the building incorporates traditional design elements reinterpreted in a modern context—balancing familiarity with fresh expression. Because federal funding supported the demolition of the previous structure, the project underwent review by the State Historic Preservation Office, which commended Inscale for its comprehensive and thoughtful submission.

Set on a challenging site characterized by steep grades, a constrained footprint, and the need for a separate drive-through structure, the design demonstrates Inscale’s ability to merge technical problem-solving with enduring architectural character.
