Butterfly Pool House

The Butterfly Pool House is a modern recreational retreat designed to complement an existing residential pool in Conewango Valley, Pennsylvania. Inscale Architects created a contemporary structure that elevates outdoor living while blending seamlessly with the landscape and nearby bluff.

The new building supports a full hospitality program, featuring indoor/outdoor shower facilities, a generous entertainment area, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen—providing a flexible space for gatherings throughout the warmer seasons.

A high-performance, energy-efficient envelope anchors the design, paired with modern fenestration, open interior volumes, and sloped ceilings that enhance natural light and visual connection to the surroundings. Large windows frame panoramic views of the pool and the dramatic bluff beyond, setting a refined architectural tone while nodding subtly to the region’s vernacular character (in playful contrast to the rustic “Amish outhouse” forms historically seen in the area).

Clean, contemporary, and carefully detailed, the Butterfly Pool House creates a sophisticated backdrop for relaxation, entertainment, and outdoor living.
